Boeing Releases its DoD SBIR/STTR 2016.2/B Topics of Interest Spreadsheet

Boeing just released its DoD SBIR/STTR 2016.2/B Topics of Interest Spreadsheet this morning, and if your company plans on submitting a proposal, we highly recommend you take advantage of this valuable resource! 

As most of you likely know, the Department of Defense (DoD) released their SBIR FY16.2 /STTR FY16.B solicitation topics on April 22, and they will begin accepting proposals this Sunday, May 22.

As a reminder from our previous emails and blogs: if your company plans on submitting a proposal on a particular topic (or topics), we highly recommend you contact the Technical Point of Contact (TPOC), listed in the solicitation, should you have questions regarding the requirements in the topic. We also encourage you to review your current IP Protection Strategy (assuming you have one in place), and if you are not confident that your strategy is proven/will safeguard your intellectual property, please contact our partners, Martensen IP.

Once you have a technical concept, the next step would be to contact the Boeing Subject Matter Experts identified in the spreadsheet. These people are in a position to determine if your proposal aligns with Boeing's technology needs and/or goals, and if they are interested in your technology/proposal, Boeing personnel may agree to provide a letter of interest (LOI) in support. These can make valuable additions to your proposal.

It is important to begin this process as soon as possible, as this will allow ample time for detailed discussions with Boeing personnel.  If you contact them at the last minute (i.e., in mid to late June), they (likely) will not be able to discuss your proposal or provide an LOI.

Remember: SBIR/STTR proposals are due June 22, 2016 at 6 AM ET.
