DPAP Releases New Guidelines on Commercial Items for Defense Contractors

The Defense Procurement and Acquisition Policy Department (DPAP), has just released a memorandum on "Guidance on Commercial Item Determinations and the Determination of Price Reasonableness for Commercial Items." This regulation is designed to add consistency to the determination of commercial items and hopefully open up business to non-traditional defense contractors.

This important memorandum affects the manner in which a defense contractor prices their products and services, and comes on the heals of the FY 2016 National Defense Authorization Act, and with the rescindment of the previous memorandum on Commerciality Guidance (issued on 2/4/15), titled: "Commercial Items and the Determination of Reasonableness of Price for Commercial Items."
