Boeing & Lockheed's SBIR Topics of Interest

As many government contractors may already know, the U.S. Department of Defense pre-released their SBIR/STTR FY21.3/C solicitation topics on August 25th. What you may not know, is that both Boeing and Lockheed Martin review each solicitation and then publish lists of topics that they are interested in.  If they like your potential solution, they may be willing to provide your business with a Letter of Interest (once you have a technical concept, you then engage with the Subject Matter Experts identified in the spreadsheets).

If your small business is submitting a proposal in this round, or are considering submitting future proposals to DoD, NASA, and Department of Energy SBIR's/STTR's, I highly encourage you to subscribe to Boeing and Lockheed's distribution lists, and take advantage of this valuable resource! LOI's make valuable additions to your proposals, and the process provides small businesses with a terrific opportunity to talk with industry experts.

A few important points:

  • We encourage all SBIR/STTR contractors and grantees to review their current IP Protection Strategy (assuming you have one in place), prior to submitting proposals.  If you are not confident that your strategy is proven/will safeguard your intellectual property in a proposal, please contact our partners, Martensen IP.
  • If you need help with the pricing section of your proposal, or establishing rates for a Ph II award, please contact ReliAscent at any time. These are important tasks, and just a few hours of consulting time with our experts can have a huge financial impact on your business.
  • Should you win a Ph II, ReliAscent can help you with the SF1408 Pre-Award Audit, setup your DCAA compliant accounting system, and then provide you with outsourced monthly accounting services to keep your system in compliance and help you to stay profitable, efficient, and proactive.

Best of luck to those of you that are submitting proposals!
