Deltek New Product Announcements

Posted by Mike Anderson on Mon, May 24, 2010 @ 01:32 PM

I'm just back from the 2010 version of the Deltek Insight conference.  This year's event was held in National Harbor, MD just outside Washington D.C.  The location of the event allowed many "beltway" businesses to attend as well as draw on some local resources.  As a result, the number of and quality of the conference break-out sessions was outstanding.  Deltek was able to announce many new products including those that are being introduced in 2010 to enhance their GCS Premier product line.  One of the more interesting new products for me was the Mobile Time product.  This product allows the user to enter their time, in complete compliance with DCAA guidelines, using their smart phone.   With the reliance on smart phones growing with all business users, this makes perfect sense.  Now each employee can use an App on their phone and record their time in full compliance with government regulations.  The new govWin program is slightly confusing at first glance.  This is because Deltek used to have a program called Govwin that was renamed Costpoint CRM and the new govWin is now a website to connect large and small contractors on government opportunities.  The new govWin is similar to a LinkedIn or Facebook but relative to the world of government contracting.  The last of the major product introductions is the Budgeting and Planning module.  This product provides powerful planning tools, program management tools and forecasting tools.  There is too much to cover in this blog but I'm always happy to discuss this with you if you call me.  I can be reached at 303-867-8125.

Looking for a Deltek GCS Expert

Posted by Mike Anderson on Tue, May 11, 2010 @ 11:55 AM

The good news is that Tech Biz is growing.  As a result, we have a need for someone with experience in Deltek GCS software.  We ideally would like someone with extensive experience in the software including not only operating the software but also in installing the software.  Obviously, operational knowledge is primary and installation can easily be learned if needed but we would prefer to not have to go through this training if we can avoid it.  Ideally we would like this person to have a degree in accounting and experience with operating government accounting systems including determining indirect rates, extensive knowledge of FAR, knowledge of GAAP, knowledge of timekeeping systems and other government accounting requirements.  It would be nice, but not necessary, if this person were a registered CPA and/or a former DCAA auditor.  I know this is asking a lot, but here at Tech Biz we pride ourselves in being the best.  If you fit this description, or know someone who fits this description, then please contact either Dave Donley or Mike Anderson immediately.

DCAA Accounting Software for Small to Medium Sized Contractors

Posted by Mike Anderson on Tue, Aug 11, 2009 @ 04:58 PM

As the DCAA tightens it’s auditing requirements, there are more and more stories of accounting systems in small business that do not pass DCAA audits.  Most of this change has occurred since last December when the Assistant Director of the DCAA issued a memo (08-PAS-043(R)) that “clarified” what constitutes a significant deficiency for a DCAA audit.  Since that time, we are hearing more stories of companies failing DCAA audits and the need for better accounting systems.  Deltek GCS Premier® is the world’s most trusted, proven accounting and project management software solution designed specifically for small to mid-sized businesses who sell services to the U.S. Government.  Tech BizSolutions, Inc. is a Deltek Partner authorized to sell, install and service the GCS Premier® software.   This software is becoming more affordable to small business.   Tech Biz has decided that it would be beneficial to start conducting seminars to educate government contractors about the software that is considered by most to be the “gold standard” for government accounting.  The first seminar will be held in Denver on October 21, 2009.  This half day event will allow contractors to come in and learn more about the system, to talk to existing users of the system and ask questions both of experts and users.  To participate, we recommend that you make reservations early as space is limited.  Please go to www.techbizsolutions.us/deltek_seminar/ to reserve your space today.
